Dear friends, I’m so happy that you’ve stopped in today.
This week has been a good one. When I could, I did some light planning for the Autumnal Equinox. It arrives on Sunday, and I’m very excited to welcome it.
Fall is my favorite season. Not only do I love all of the fall things, my birthday is in October. This makes it feel extra special.
In my spiritual practice, I loosely follow the Wheel of the Year.
The Autumnal Equinox has been historically celebrated as a harvest festival, and while my family will not be celebrating the harvest on this day, I do have a few meaningful things planned.
I hope to go on a nature walk to collect leaves with my family. Perhaps I will have a contemplative time in nature, as well. I’m looking forward to this so much.
Nature is amazing, y’all. I’m sitting outside right now as I type, and the soft breeze is blowing while evening insects are beginning to emerge. I like to be outside as much as I can, and the Autumnal Equinox should be a beautiful time to enjoy the outdoors. I hope to be outside at both sunrise and sunset, to recognize the equal hours of day and night.
In the morning, I will give my children a few gifts. I purchased new nature and autumn themed books for my little ones, along with a geode kit. We might go apple picking as well.
There isn’t a right or wrong way to celebrate the Equinox. I hope to enjoy the day as it comes, and to connect with the rhythms of nature on this Sabbath. Sabbath or Sabbat is the Celtic or Pagan way to refer to the festivals honored during the Wheel of the Year, and I think the term is fitting. It should be a restful day of connection.
I also plan to think about the goals I’ve met over the past couple of months. I’ve written a lot, and I also became a certified Spiritual Life Coach. This portion of the year has definitely been fruitful for me. But I’m ready to move from this chapter of productivity and welcome fall as the wheel continues to turn. I’m excited to see what will come next in my life.
I hope to connect with the earth, my family, and myself. I’ve learned so much about myself intuitively, simply by spending time in solitude outdoors.
If you celebrate the Autumnal Equinox, I hope you have a beautiful and meaningful day.
