The Way of Opposites
When beauty is fake,
it is actually ugly.
And if goodness is not sincere,
it is not truly good.
Existence and nonexistence are not compatible with each other.
Difficult and easy are opposed.
Long and short, high and low,
loud and soft, before and after…
These are all opposites.
They reveal each other.
The wise do not bring attention to themselves in their actions
or talk to much.
When troubles come,
they are not bothered.
They construct, but do not stockpile;
They act, but don’t expect praise;
They build, but do not dwell inside of their building.
Because they do not dwell inside of their building,
They never leave.
This Sacred Life
